528t pulse timer converted to time delay?

Hello! This is my first post here. I have an understanding about basic electronics, but no experience. Bear with me here, as I'm learning as I go.

WHAT I WANT:
A time delay relay. I want to delay the activation of the relay about 20 seconds after it first receives power. It will run off 12v DC, and I was going to use a separate SPDT relay because I'll be seeing close to 20 amp spikes at times.

WHAT I BOUGHT:
The 528T Pulse Timer.

Now, after a few hours of extensive screwing around. I've learned what I bought is not exactly what I want.

Also, thanks to the great search function on this site, I found what I want online (Amperite C Series Time Delay Relay), but the price seems a bit... excessive ...for what it is. ($35-$55 )

So I guess my question is...
Can I somehow use my 528T in combination with an SPDT to accomplish what I'm shooting for? Or is there a more affordable option than the Amperite C that will do what I want?

what you are wanting to do can be done with the 528t depending on what it is you are trying to do. i can give you a very descriptive explanation if you can explain in more detail what it is you are trying to do. you will get more answers on your thread from others also as they will be able to better help with a solution, not only that, there may be more than one way to do what you want that someone else knows of, everyone skins their cat differently if you know what i mean.

Alright, the ugly details:

I'm wiring up an HID headlight to my motorcycle. I have a switched circuit already set up for it, but I need to delay the HID starting for about 20-30 seconds after the circuit gets power.

I've got the 528T and a standard SPDT relay to work with.

on the 528t connect the black and BLACK/ white wire together and ground them, connect the red wire and yellow wire to your switched circuit (assuming your switched circuit provides 12v+ out), connect the orange wire to 86 on your relay and ground 85. the brown wire will not be used. now just play with the adjustment screw until you get the time you want/need. when you turn on your switched circuit it will trigger the 528t for whatever amount of time you have it set for, then once it returns to its normal state(after it times out) it will send power to your SPDT relay triggering it and sending power to the light.
