Hello all,
I have a telephone control module that closes two contacts either momentary or latched depending on the signal i send. I am trying to activate a gate relay. The gate has a pushbutton. When the button is pushed, it connects +12vdc with -12dc to activate the relay that opens the gate. I am trying to used the telephone control module to open the gate but I cannot just connect the +12vdc and the -12vdc to the momentary contact of the telephone module otherwise I will have 12vdc going where it shoudn't. I need +12dc goint out to activate the gate relay.
How do i set up a relay to accomplish this. Basically, I call from telephone and imput code, it closes the contacts. I then need 12vdc going to the pushbutton to activate the gate relay when the contacts on the telephone module closes.
Thanks
If the module just connects a set of contacts (typically referred to as dry contacts, no voltage on either side) you should be able to connect one side of the contact to one side of the push button and the other side of the contact to the other side of the pushbutton. Then, when your relay closes will will simulate pushing the button.
Or, you can follow the advice above and determine the output voltage of the switch (+ or -) and put that votlage on one side of the contacts and put the other side to the output of the switch.

It is a set of dry contacts. I will try to connect to both switch wires and see what happens.
