Hello

Thank you all for a great site. Lots of information here. But I have a special need.

I am working on a haunted house prop that uses a motion sensor to trigger a 6 volt motor which is a vibrating box. I need the prop to have a little more juice. I hope to use a SPDT relay or two to trigger this power drill I have.

The motion sensor puts out 6-7vlts and I would like to either make a closed circuit with a power strip plug or if I have to I can go into the drill motor direct.

My first question is does anyone have any ideas? My second is can I break connection to a ground wire on a 120vlt plug and not burn the relay up? I never learned AC so I am stuck here...???

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas or links to diagrams what may help me.

Thanks in advance.
Mark

So I got this working by interuption the motor wires. Depending on speed the volts go up to 30+. Will this standard 12vlt relay hold up to short 15 second bursts of 30+ volts?

Thanks again

As long as you do not pull more than 40 amps of current through the relay, you will be fine.
