I purchased an Dei 528T Timer Relay with a 3-prongs led rocker switch wired to a power inverter. I have read many forums and the pages on 12volt.com about relays. I want to make certain before I short anything.

Here is what I have connected: (Turns on when car is on, off when car is off)

Ignition > Dei 528T > rocker switch > power inverter on/off switch

My problem is I am wondering would getting the ignition line or constant to the power inverter on/off switch short anything?

Here is a diagram of another 30A relay from radio shack.

87 – connects to the M/C battery (positive)

30/51 – connects to the positive side of the switch

86 – connects to the ground side of the switch

85 – connects to ground or the master grounding block

My concern is that I only want the realy to flick the on/off switch of the inverter but not to supply it with power.
