Subject: aux trunk latch relay wiring

My car is a 1968 Cougar. My Black Widow control box has door lock/unlock, and I've wired that, and it works. There's a dedicated wire for the trunk latch (aux-gray wire). I've installed an aftermarket trunk latch, which runs off 12V. I want to wire the relay to operate it. I tried the accessory wiring diagram on this site, and the relay didn't even click, so I know that's wrong for my application. I do have 12V at the power wire., and a good ground. I searched the last 20 pages of relay info, and couldn't find the answer. Any help, guys (and/or gals)? Thanks... Barry (currently frustrated)

85 pin to gray of your module
86 & 87 to direct 12v
30 to your actuator..
That will work....

It's NEXT time already! I've decided to connect the dome light feature (BLACK/ white wire) from the control box. I've found the 12V lead to the dome lights. The directions call for a relay. Since the relay will only trigger (complete) the circuit, do I really need the relay (telling me why would help me in the future), and if so, how is it wired? As always, thanks... Barry

Do you have negative trigger door switches, if so then you could try tapping the feed of the dome light from the alarm to the door trigger wire and see if that turns it on, post back and we'll work from there!

The door locks are aftermarket actuator's, and both use a relay (using the green and blue wires from the alarm box). I guess my wiring question is a little more complex. I've tried wiring the dome light feed directly to the BLACK/ white box wire, and got nothing when I unlocked the doors. Where does the 12V come from to power the dome lights...does it come from the box (which is hooked up to 12V constant), or do I need to wire a relay to provide 12V when the doors are closed? And since I see now that I probably need the relay, how would you wire it? My disclaimer...please keep in mind that I'm VERY new to all this, and know almost nothing! I hope I've explained the conditions correctly! Barry

Not door locks, door trigger, is it negative? Normally the domelight feed of the alarm will be negative so it could be just a matter of "tapping to the trigger wire"! If however the feed isn't sufficient then i will help you with the relay, the triggering of the domelight would come from the doors being opened or if you actually move the switch to the on position!

Yes, it's negative trigger. I tried hooking the dome light wire to the alarm box wire, and got nothing (everything else I installed works correctly EXCEPT the dome light). The Black Widow instructions said a relay was required. That's gonna be my last resort, and if the relay doesn't make it work, I just won't use the dome light feature.

The relay will work wire a relay like this Pin 87- ground pin 86- constant twelve (fused as small as possible) pin 85- dome light trigger of alarm pin 30- to the door wire of alarm! Just leave the dome light on the door position! And you're set! ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.
