I am hooking up my line locks in my car and plan on using the cruise control button to activate them.

I found out how to do it with just a spdt switch and relay, but I want to add an led for when I flip the switch from cruise to line locks so that I know they are "armed". Then when I press the cruise button to activate the locks, I want another led to illuminate letting me know that the Lock solenoid is activated.

Please help, thanks. Here is a diagram of the relay and spdt switch, where would I install the above mentioned led's.

With the diagram you posted there isn't a way to add a light to indicate when the switch is in the "ON" position. This is because you are switching a open switch (ie nothing actually happens until you push the switch).

This can be "fixed" by adding an additional SPDT relay. Wire your SPDT switch to Pin 85 and wire Pin 86 to ignition like in the current relay. Then, use the 3 SPDT contacts of the relay (NC, NO, and C) and wire them like your SPDT switch. You can then use the switch output to activate the light.

You can also put a (-) light wire on pin 87 of the relay shown above to indicate when the line lock is active.

Thanks. I was figuring I needed another relay. Might have to do what you suggested, thanks again.

Is there a safety issue here?

No safety issue. Just like to know when the switch is arming the line locks or cruise control will act normal.
