can some one please explain why you would use the relay on the right and not just have the momentary switch do the work without the relay

You could, but then you would have to hold the switch continuously while turning the ignition key to start. The idea is to make it inconspicuous.

how does that keep the relay switched when you let off of the switch shouldnt it  make the relay change back to the 87a when you let off of the switch

Once the coil of the right relay is activated, terminals 30, 87 and 85 of the right relay have continuity creating a latch until the 12V ignition source is removed (turned off).

thanks i see what i was missing now. because 87 loops back to 85 it causes it to stay open sorry sometimes its the little things you miss
