I am doing a Viper 5701 Remote Start install on an 07 Ford Focus and want to hook up rear defrost and trunk pop.

The car has power trunk, I am wondering if I hook the RED / white aux trunk release -200ma to this wire directly or if I will need a relay, and if so, which terminals go to which wire on the relay?

For the rear defrost, how do I test for this wire at the switch and should I use the 2nd remote starter status -200ma output (defrogger programmable wire) to power the relay, and if so, which terminals go to which wires?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Dom

hi,
you can use the relay in the car for the defroster, a negative signal triggers it. wire is at connector at upper left of fuse panel under dash...side with more connectors. BLACK/ orange or BLACK/ green, they both terminate at the same position in the connector. it will show a negative when the defroster is switched on. set for latched output.

the BLACK / YELLOW at the dash switch sends a negative to the GEM. wire in directly, although you may have to unlock doors first then give trunk release signal.

Wow, thank you so much. I will grab the wire to the left of the fuse panel for defrost and set it to latch.

And for the trunk, you're saying it is in the same area. Yes, I believe you do have to unlock the door first.

Thank you so much for your help. I greatly appreciate it.

I did my daughters 2005 Focus this past June with a Viper 5701.  It was a fairly easy install. All the starter, ignition, 12 volt and accessory wires were easy to get at when the lower dash panel was removed.

For the by pass, be careful. On her car, there were two sets of wires exactly the same color as what is listed for the tx and rx wires. And, of course, I connected into the wrong ones and couldn't get the Fortin module to program. Wasted an hour of time trying to program three different modules to no avail. Went back to verify the wiring and noticed one set of wires were slightly larger gauge than the ones for tx/rx. Correct ones connected and programing done in 5 minutes.  Gotta learn to keep my head outta my  ***   when I'n doing something important!!

What brand of Bypass are you using?  I'll throw in my pitch for the Fortin brand. I know, everybody has a preference.

I believe there was a grommet on the drivers side kick panel area that I ran the tach and  hood pin wires out through. Don't remember one on the firewall.

Plan on diode isolateing all four doors. I didn't, and it came back to bite me in the butt. False Alarm Triggers. She lives 250 miles away. (402 kilometers for Howie) lol

Her trunk release works off of the AUX button without unlocking the doors. Does your Focus have a trunk release button on the dash?? If so you can grab the BLACK / YELLOW there.  Tight spot.  Relay needed as I remember.

Thats about all I can think of. Good Luck.

The GEM for the domelight and door triggers,if needed, is behind the glove box. So you will have to disassemble that part of the car to access it. That also was rather easy to work with. Four or five plugs in it, different colors.

Actually it's 250 miles for me too, it's the strines what talk proper English but use klicks.
Up to about 2005 our (the real Focus) had the same wiring as your's. Now that's all changed but they are rejoining for the 2012 model, you will then get the tasty RS..
As a point on a Focus you can't unlock trunk when car is locked unless you directly feed the trunk motor. I've always gone to the BLACK / YELLOW from the switch.

Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Quick question, can someone tell me what pins I need to wire up for the relay for the trunk release?

85- Trunk Release - output
86, 87- 12v Constant
30- Trunk Wire Blk / YELLOW at switch in dash

I was thinking this setup, but not sure
