So im currently in planning stages of building a landrover style roof rack, and plan on installing lighting, fog lights front and back and some kind of lighting on sides to illuminate surrounding area.
I will be powering the setup by a standalone battery, probly a deep cycle marine that can withstand being drained and charged better than a car battery. Want to go LED for the power consumption but they are pricey.
So that brings me to my problem. Ive been researching best way to wire this up and Im planning on using relays, and having each section of lighting have its own on/off switch i.e front, back, sides.
Since the toggle switch needs a power source to activate the relay just wondering if I can hook back into main battery power and use a low amp fuse on that line to pwer the switch. Or if I should have a seperate battery like one of those lantern batteries hooked to the switch power line.
I understand how to hook up the rest of it just unsure on the switch.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Small wire fused at 1 amp connected to the battery for the lights will be fine. Each relay will draw (.)16 amps of current through your switch.
