Hi,
I'm hoping that someone here can help me figure out what relay socket I need for my application.

I am looking to build horn and headlight relays for my motorcycle.

I'd like to use a Panasonic CA1A-12V-5N relay, but cannot identify the necessary socket.

You can see the datasheet for the relay here and I've attached an image of what the socket looks like.

I'm very much a novice so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

What relay are you using?

Panasonic CA1A-12V-5-N.

There is a link to the datasheet in my original post.

Thanks,
Chris

The connections on the bottom of the relay will accept a 1/4 inch terminal. If you can not find the socket, you could easily wire it up with terminals.

Yes, I see that. I would really like to get the proper socket as it seals everything up nicely.

Almost any older vehicle. That is a common 2x2 spade connector (female plug) - very common in Jap cars 1960-2000.

The locking tabs were added from the 1970s.

Look further in the catalogue for mounting brackets. The one you've shown is for a normal "cube" type relay, Bosch/Tycho etc. available anywhere and probably much cheaper. N.B. If mounting is exposed to the elements, spray lithium grease or a good moisture retarder and drown the contacts, also mount vertically.

Thanks! That give me a good start. I still can't find anything at any online auto part site, but it's a very helpful lead.

I'm not sure I follow. The above socket is not for a typical Bosch type relay. It is for the CA type relay described in the attached datasheet. . .

I also didn't see any mounting brackets in the Panasonic catalogue. Can you be more specific?

Thanks,
Chris

You missed my point:-
First is that relay really necessary? A Bosch/Tycho is cheaper and has lots of available bases.
Second since you found that really and the Panasonic catalogue, look further.
N.B. Shown in the photo certainly isn't a relay base it's a standard 6mm female socket, we used to use hundreds of them for detachable rear shelf speakers.

But then if it fits your relay fine. Oldspark, go back to sleep it's too early to get up yet.
