I want to use my Audison Bit One processor, but for the remote turn on for my amps the manual says to use a relay that does not draw more than 130 mA. I keep finind 160 mA is the nominal. It's a SPDT 12DVC 30/40 amp relay. I will be only drawing an amp or two to turn on my amps, but want the standard size SPDT 5 prong relay, but has a acurrent draw of 130 mA max or less. Anyone know where to get one?

Hi,
Did you measure the current required to turn on your amplifiers?
The amount needed may be well less than the amp or two you think, or even less than the 130mA output available on the Bit One. You might be able to find a solid-state (all electronic) equivalent of a bosch-type relay, but it will be pricey.

<130mA means a coil greater above 110 Ohm resistance (assuming 14.4V).

Many relays should meet that, though most automotive relays are 60-90 Ohms.

You could get a smaller relay to turn on whatever big relay you need for the amp.
Otherwise a transistor (or FET) could be used as a buffer. (Others have posted suitable tranny circuits previously.)

My one amp draw 100 ma and I'll have 3 amps and audio control matrix, whic hwill put it over 130 ma

Most of the PCB relays have higher coil impedencies and handle up to 10 amps. Excepting the size requirement (why that size? I always mix and match for different power requirements, considering it's about 1/4 the price) that's one answer.

100ma is EXTREMELY high for an amplifier remote wire. Did you actually test this, or is that what the manufacturer states?

I've just realised where this is going, in the mid 80s I had a (then) top end Nak cassette head unit, also an Alpine 12 disc autochanger, both feeding a Denon switching unit with three Soundstream amps, I never needed a relay.

I found a Panasonic relay that draws 117 Ma model: CB1AM12V it's a 12VDC relay 5 socket which should work. A guy I work with is powering 3 amps with his Bit One, but I'd rather be safe than sorry especially if I am gonna cruise Woodward cruise for 8 hours straight playing it.
