I have a 2002 f250. im putting in heated mirrors from a 2005, i have run all the wires and have the drivers side working, powered by a toggle switch in the dash. I need to hook up the pass side and I believe i need a relay? A SPDT will work, but im not sure why I will have 87a, an unused wire, hot when the mirrors are not turned on. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you run your power source to 87 rather than 30, then 87a won't be live and even if it was it won't draw any juice if not connected.
Or use a 4 pin relay.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
