relay diagram for led/halos

Basically I want my stock leds/parking lights to flash when I unlock/lock car with remote. Normally only the turn signals flash. I want all of them to flash.

I also want the leds/parking lights to be on when I turn on my car.

Please let me know also if I will need diodes to prevent backfeed.

THis is for a 2013 veloster turbo.

For those of us unfamiliar with your car can you break down exactly what you want to turn on? When you say LEDS/parking lights I have no idea what you mean!

Normally the parking lights come on only when I turn my light switch stalk to "parking lights" or "headlights". I want my parking lights to also automatically come on with car ON. So I dont have to move stalk if I dont want to.

In addition to that, Id like for the parking lights to flash when I unlock/lock car with key less entry remote. Normally, only the turn signals flash.

Basically I want to give direct power to the parking lights but by 2 different means. One by power only when car is ON (somewhat of a DRL) AND when car is OFF (flash them in unison with turn signal lights when unlocking/locking car with remote).

Hopefully that makes some sense.

That's a lot of diodes! Did you size them all for the appropriate current? Typically the standard 1A diodes locally available are not large enough for lighting applications - 6A diodes would be the standard recommendation.

I used 3a diodes since they didnt have the 6a. Seems to be working but I'll probably go back in and change them to 6a, given your recommendation.

Had another question though...

I have 2 led strips under my dash. One on the left and one on the right. They are both wired to 12v + always on in fuse box and for ground the left is wired to (-) left door switch wire and the right to the (-) right door switch wire. So that they each only come on when the corresponding door is opened.

My question is. Can I wire a relay to basically "switch" between ground inputs for the leds. One from the door switch and the other to a constant ground that can in turn be controlled by a toggle switch.

Basically I want the leds to come as they do now but ALSO be able to switch them on whenever I want to.

Yes, that should work. You can also use a SPDT toggle switch to do the same thing, assuming the switch has a current capacity that can handle the LED load.

Im assuming a DPDT would be needed if I also wantes the option to turn the leds completely off. Ie..no light with door on.

The other thing is..the leds grounds are independent of each now. they are tied to the door switches. What I need is for them ti both come on when I flip a switch but act independtly when using the door feature.

Not sure how this would be wired.

A DPDT switch won't help you out, you will need a three position switch that has an "off" position. A standard DPDT switch is still only a two position switch, it just has two SPDT contacts in parallel.

You should be able to diode isolate your ground feeds to prevent backfeeding to your door pin circuits but allowing both sets of lights to come on.

Can you tell me how to wire up each number? As in #1 goes to X and so on.

Also...you mentioned 6a diodes.

Would this be the diode you are talking about?

Reason I ask is because they have a few different 6a diodes. Also, since I have 3a diodes in there right now on parking light setup..what could go wrong if I dont change them out for the 6a right away?
