Hi Guys,
Im pretty good with car installs such as stereo/lighting/remote starts/etc.. and had a question on remote starts. I have done a total of 10 over the last 2/3 years on canbus/non canbus cars with great success so far. The question i have is I have been installing all of my remote starts without relays for trunk pop/keysense wire/horn output/and never did domelight supervision yet. I havent had a problem yet doing it this way, but im always seeing relay wire diagrams for these features and was wondering is it really bad that im not using a relay and kind of risking overloading the circuit on the remote start board?? Obviously i do use relays when i have to change polarity. Let me know guys what you have encountered in the past.... thanks again

The only time I use relays is for 2nd ACC, IGN or (+) Starter. Any (-) trigger features on vehicles can usually be done by the Compustar unit that I install. Not sure about other brands but you can always install it and try it out and if it activates the function, your good to go. If it doesn't activate it, then use a relay to boost the signal.

Thanks for reply, I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I use crimestopper or avital remote start units because its easy for me to get fortin bypass products for good price.
