I am fitting a dash camera - max power consumption is 3.3w, from the same fuse I want to trigger a relay (40A 12vdc) to power another accessery.

What size fuse is required to protect this setup - 3.3w camera + trigger relay ?

Use whatever wire gauge is required to power the devices.
The fuse for each wire should be rated no higher than the wire/cable (or relay) rating. If using one fuse for several wires, then no higher than the smallest wire.

Those fuses are to protect the distribution (wiring, relay etc; from flaming etc).

Like LEDs etc, fuses are unlikely to protect the camera.
