I have a 2011 Cadillac EXT and want to have the aftermarket amps stay on with the OEM head unit. I have located the RAP circuit (300mA) in the Mid Buss and want to put a relay on it.

Can someone tell me what parts I need and diagram the set up for me?

Usually I would just find a switched 12 v lead, BUT this car doesnt make that easy and having found one, the sound cuts off with the key and I want it to remain until the door opens or system times out.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Use the power to the power windows to trigger the amps. Personally I wouldn't add a relay to the trigger side of the BCM unless I was told it's OK to do it by someone I trust to know what they're talking about.

The power windows are on the delayed accy buss, and are 12 volt. I saw this solution in one of the stickies on this forum.

Is there a fusebox / junction box just to the left of the brake pedal?

If so, there is a terminal at the bottom left corner that will do what you need.

Is there relay that will work with 300 milliamps?

on the junction box next to the brake pedal, there are two possible connections, one is on with 12 volt ignition (position 7 if I recall correctly), and the one that I am interested in is the 300 milliamp (position 8) retained accessory power connection.

I just need to know what relay I can use with the 300 milliamp connection to trigger the amps so they stay on until the door is open like the radio.

A standard Bosch/Now Tyco relay draws only 160 milliamps. Whereas the turn on circuit of any modern amplifier draws only a fraction of that.

Thanks for the information. I just happen to have a few of those laying around. I will give it a go this weekend and let you know how it turns out.

I was recommending that you not use the relay. The current draw of the relay coil is going to be way more than the draw of the amplifiers.

Is this an Escalade EXT? If so, did you look for the terminals I mentioned in my first post? No relay needed for sure on that wire. It will supply enough current to power a 10 inch flip down monitor with DVD. So I know it will turn your amplifiers on without a problem.
