There were some posts about these, but they are closed...

Are there ways to build timer relays instead of using the DEI ($) units? I thought a big capacitor might hold the coil for a few seconds, depending on what you need.
Or perhaps power the coil with a transitor/capacitor.
Or whip up a 555 timer.

I'm still learning electronics, hoping I can do this soon but was wondering if anyone else already has. Thanks!

do you want it to just stay on for a specific amount of time? You could use a 555 one shot setup, the most simple i have come up with uses a D Flip-Flop, transistor, cap, and some resistors, in theory it will work, but i gotta test it out.

PAC makes a cool timer TR7 it works great.
