Hi. I'm new here and with the help of all the great people and info on the12volt.com I have been able to get as far as I am but need some help getting to the next step.
Here is the short story: I have a 03 Mustang 5 speed I want to convert to a automatic.
Problem 1: The 4R70W is computer controlled and my 5 speed CPU will not do the job.
Options: 1. Change CPU, get it flashed, get keys reprogrammed blah blah blah. 2. Buy a aftermarket controller for $600 +. 3. Convert the trans to a full manual valve body for very cheap and shift it like a manual without a clutch. For this thread lets say I pick option 3.
Problem 2. The overdrive and torque converter lockup are still electronically controlled.
The salutation: A relay pack with momentary switches to control both.
What has to happen: To turn on overdrive and lock the converter they both must be grounded with a pulse from a momentary switch. To keep from having transmission damage the torque converter must unlock with a 12v (+) pulse from the brake pedal a 12v (+) pulse from the same momentary switch or down shift that results in a lost ground from a pressure switch on the transmission. Overdrive must be turned on and off by another momentary switch.
Please review the diagram that I have made so far. What I would like to do is get rid of the DPDT rocker switch and replace it with just a momentary switch. So I would have only 2 momentary switches. One for overdrive on/overdrive off TC unlock, and one for TC lockup, and brake pedal signal TC unlock and the pressure switch deactivate both.
