I have just purchased a 2018 colorado WT w/o fog lights. ordered an oem kit from gmparts. This includes harness, lights and factory switch. I have read that once the install is complete, I need to have the dealer program the BCM. Is there a relay array or? that will work instead of the $110.00 reprogram?

GM has locked this add on culture out. Dealer has to log on to GM website and have GM add the option code to your Vehicle build sheet list then wait for it to update on GM's side then they re-flash the vehicle with updated options. Usually there is a fee that has to be paid to GM also. Not only the dealer reprograming fee. The switch is a MUX switch and the BCM needs to be Programmed to the new switch for the BCM to turn the FOG light relay on.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was afraid of. Sounds like a form of extortion to me.

Could be worse over in England according to HowieII just adding lo-jack to your vehicle will void the manufacture warranty.
I have to agree that it is extortion, that they can stop you from using oem parts to upgrade your vehicle with out paying a fee to them. But apple is and has been doing the same thing for years.
You pay for it but don't really own it!!!!
