I have installed a simple alarm to my 1999 GMC Sierra connecting from the door light switch to an on/off toggle switch to a siren. The door switch is 12v constant until door opens sending a negative pulse. I have wired the siren positive to a constant 12v fused. The negative wire of siren is run to the toggle switch/door light switch. Now this is sending 12v both thru the positive and negative to the siren when the door is closed and activates with the negative pulse when door is open. This set up works fine however it is concerning having 12v on both legs. Should this be run thru a relay converting the negative pulse to positive and just grounding the siren or is there a relay configuration I can use with existing set up?
