Hi all,

First time user on this forum but am active on other automotive forums (AACA and Riv Performance).

Wanting to find a specification for a Normally Open 12V automotive relay for the minimum latching voltage?

I am doing a modification on a ‘97 Buick Riviera that needs two relays that have a latching voltage greater than 7.2V (9v would be ideal)

This is to enable both Lo Beams to remain on with the Hi Beam. The problem is the Daytime Running Lights are providing 7.2v - 7.4v to the Hi Beam which then triggers most of the relays I have tried.

I did find and am using one from a batch that requires more than 7.2V however would like to be a bit more scientific than trial and error (luck).

Do any manufacturers list a minimum latching voltage with their specifications?

A standard Bosch spdt relay will latch at about 7.8v and release at about 1.2v
