Hello, this is my first attempt at doing anything relay wise and would like your professional oppinions. My alarm has a constant 12V out (on alarm) and I would like to make it flash alternating lights in my Camaros grille openings. I would use cheap clearance lights. Here is the system I have come up with (Note: I drew it with all grounds to the battery for sheer simplicity of reading the diagram): https://www.fbody.com/members/Thunder//Diagram.jpg

The relay on the left is the one from this websites tech section that turns a constant 12V into a momentary pulse. This would operate the SPDT relay either turning one light on or the other. Will this work? Is there a better way? Also, How do I create that 12V pulser relay? Since I am just starting that picture has me lost besides the inputs and outputs.  Thanks!

John

wow that diagram is hard to read lol. That citcuit wouldent really do anything without that top relay hooked up... but if it was... If you use that circuit it will turn one light on momentarily when first powered up, then turn the other and remain with the other light on. You need something that actually flashes. I have to ask why you want to do this though, with incandecent light bulbs the current draw maight really stary to wear the battery power down when off for an extended period of time.

you could try using something like this:

You could try running 85 to your (-) alarm output, 86 to fused +12V, that round thing is a turn signal flasher i think, you could cut its output (at that "L" terminal and tie it to another relay to terminal 85, 86 to ground, 30 to other relays terminal 30 (To keep the lights off when not armed, 87 to one light, 87a to the other

I hope that helps some, im not too sure about the turn signal flasher i have never hooked one up this way

Thanks, yea I see what you mean now. I thought that momentary stores charge then recharges and goes againg. I now see to use a turnsignal flasher. Thanks. I am going to get the parts and then see where I am. Sorry to anyone reading this if the diagram isnt showing. That second site also has some remote linking block. Thanks.

Okay here is what I think I got. A turn signal flasher sends current through all the time, it is just not enough to light the light up. Will this stop it from energizing the relay becasue it always has current traveling, just not a big amount?
