car stater with relay

I printed a diagram of building a remote starter with relay . now i need to find out how or what to use for a timer for the starter, and what could i use for the tach of the vehicle i figure out the parking light and the brake shutoff but i still need these two steps to finish.:errr:

I do not want to discourage your efforts to building something you can call your own.

But . . .

You would be better served and protected, to simply spend the $50.00 to 250.00 for a remote car starter.

REASONS:

1) You have a proven and tested unit that was R&D, and manufactured to work out of the box, assuming your level of experience and common sense is there to install it.

2) All the safety aspects which goes into the unit of prestart, restart, failed start, proper timing, fuel delivery , etc, are there.

3) Safety for others: All units incorporate the minimum of safety checks and validations.

A) Hood closed / ajar
B) Brake, e-brake & Neutral safety
C) Anti-grind
D) Over rev / fail start / tach & voltage sense

All of the above things are there to protect others incase of a run away vehicle.

4) Warranty and tech support should the unit ever fail.

5) Actual and practical transmission range to auto start the vehicle from a reasonable distance.

6) The ability to actually see that your vehicle has started and if you so desire to initiate other devices to make your driving more enjoyable.

ie, Preheat / precool the vehicle.

7) To have a temperature / voltage / timed output to start the vehicle if it is too cold or too hot.

Just some things to consider, before you realize that your project will not give you all the basic things a low cost over the counter unit will provide.

Bottom line... You install it, you get to take credit for doing it !!!
