ok, I am looking to install some door lock actuators into my truck. I will be using the factory ford ranger power door lock switches(3 wires) and 2 wire actuators. My guess is that somewhere in this mix needs to be a relay, but heres where I am stuck. Does someone have a diagram showing how to wire this up? Thanks!

If u r using factory door switches and have plugs, then you shouldn't need any relays, the switches are reverse polarity.  What year truck?

I will be using the factory switches, but there is no wiring. I am installing these into a truck with no power options. I got the switches from the dealership, but none of the wiring is in my truck. Its a 2003 Mazda B3000. Thanks!

yes 3 connectors on the switch. 1 should be lock, 1 unlock, and the other +12. would I need a relay or something to introduce a ground into this circuit to make the actuators work? give me your expert opinion! thanks!

I showed those cars as having negative door locks if it came equipped from the factory so the middle pin is you negative the other pins will be lock, unlock, when you push switch it will connect the middle to iether pin lock or unlock so test it. Do you have the plug for the switch???? so far so good you will wire the 2 wire door locks this way it will require 2 realay and set up for aftermarket actuators. pin 86 will be lock to switch, pinn 85 will be unlock to switch

I dont have the plug for the switch, I figured ford would make you buy a whole wiring harness, but if they can be had it would make the job much easier. Ah, the ever so popular diagram. I kinda thought that may be how I hooked it up and using the switch lock/unlock in place of the alarm lock/unlock as you described. So for the switch, just ground the middle pin, the +12 will be going to the relay and when I hit the button everythings happy? Now to make things even more complex :) in the future, when I add a keyless entry kit, all I need to do is hook the alarm lock and unlock outputs to 86 and 85 and the keyless entry and door lock switches should all still work? Now if I could just find where I stashed all those automotive relays I used to have. Thanks!

go to you local stereo shop or Radio shack and get two relas , I prefer using a door lock module relay DEI part number 451M it has 2 reay built in for this type of application, but 2 realy will do just fine. and yes if in the future you add a keyless entry just connect it to the realys. mount your relays outside door for future access.

DEI 451M

The DEI 451M Pre-Wired Door Lock Relay Assembly is a great time saver. It activates most power door lock systems, ideal for 5-wire systems. Requires alarm-supplied negative pulses. Plugs directly into the Hornet 730T & 732T alarms, the DEI 710T Keyless entry, and the DEI 552T Remote Car Starter.
