i have a '98 potiac trans am and the cooling fan doesn't come on, i found out that it's a sensor, but it cost $325, so in the mean time i was wondering if any one knew of a way to wire a relay for the fan to turn on when i start the car and turn off when i turn the car off

thanks

You could wire up a relay to the oil pressure switch or something, but constantly running the fans will shorten motor life.  Why not install a switch on the dash to control a relay?

also running the fan continuously will result in overcooling, not letting the engine easily reach operating temperature...this is esp critical to the LT1 and LS1 v8 versions of your car (it is an v8, right?  posted_image)  I agree with wiring even a temporary rocker switch on the dash...let the car warm up, flick the fan on and turn it off with the key...

also, if you're willing to spend that kind of money on a factory replacement piece...why not consider a complete fan system upgrade?  there are dual electric fan sets that replace the factory stuff, and come with the necessary relay and adjustable temp sensor for less money man....
