I want to know what is the maximum amperage diode there is. I know that IN4001 is a 1amp diode, i want something like 30amps.

Also If I put five 6amp diodes in parallel, will the result be a 30amp diode? I need this for my IGN. Thanks.

you can get diodes in the thousands of amps, (digikey sells a 9570A diode for $506 hah)

digikey has a lot of diodes: https://www.digikey.com

you can string diodes in parallel, I guess it would be okay to do, I would assume that doping differences in the diodes would cause differences in current through each but I dont think it would cause any problems...I would try to use just one if possible if for nothing more than ease

thanks xetmes.
I am trying to make one IGN from my RS unit to go to the car's IGN1 and also energize a relay for a second IGN. However I don;t want the relay energized when the car starts, so I thought of using a diode. I posted the question on another post but in case you don't see it, do you know how I can do that? Thanks.

Just use the ign 1 output to trigger two relays to power the seperate ignitions, loose the diode completely.

auex, that was exactly the first thing I was going to do, but that won't work since my crazy RS unit uses its IGN output both as an output and input signal wire. That has got to be a direct connection. I first thought I would put a relay in parallel to the IGN wire. That is when I thought of putting a diode so that the relay knows which side the current is coming from so that it gets energized only when powered by the RS and not by the car's power. However I will lose the input capability there as well since the diode is a 1way traffic. This morning, I came up with a creative diagram, where a third relay switches on only if both ACC gives 12v from RS and IGN1 is giving 12v either from RS or car. It took me some time to come up with it. I will be using 3 relays, no diode, and direct IGN output for in/out signals with no isolation of IGN1. If anyone is interested, I can put up the diagram if anyone else has the same crazy combination of vehicle and alarm/rs like I have.
