using relays for window roll down

hi, i got a 2000 prelude and have wired up the window roll up action when armed along with the sunroof using two window module kits. my question is that i have alot of relays and want to use that for the window roll down action using my 3rd ch  on my alarm sys. will i have to buy one more kit to do it or is it possible to do it with relays.  any input is appreciated thanx!!!!

using relays for the window roldown is kinda difficult.   It's easiest to get another module but it is possible to do it with relays.  you need one relay for each door.  take each of the relay pins (#85) and wire them together and then to the 3rd chennel output.  put pin 86 and 87 to a twelve volt constant.  pin 30 should go to the window and 87a should go to the switch.  that should work but you have to make sure you stop the 3rd channel when the windows are down or it may cause the motor to burn out or the wire to overheat.

www.autopreservers.com has a dual direction window automation module if you wanna check that out. it does up and down in one module. That's the one I used on my car.

thanx for the info the 3rd ch is programable from momentary to timed. i'll give the relays a try and see how it goes if not i'll just have to dish out some more dough.

I would highly recommed that you use window modules only. Using relays will work as previously stated,BUT they have no inhibitors, and as such do not know when to stop giving power to the window motor.

got it the kit is on its way  its not much to dish out but i'll take your guys word for it. thanx for all the input.!!!! i'll be posting another forum call cheap amps maybe u guys can help me out there too.

I've done relay setups to roll windows up and down on several vehicles. I haven't had any problems either. But except for one thing, every alarm I did it with was a viper alarm. The channels on a viper have a "validity" output. That basically means that the output is active for as long as you have the button pressed. I would only reccomend using relays if your alarm has a validity output. That way, you can press and hold down the button on your remote, then release the button when the windows are down. If you try this with a pulsed or timed output, this will cause problems.

yea thats what i have its a momentary output.  that what i thought at first too. as far as the sunroof anyone know which wires to tap into for a 2000 prelude? where is the motor located for the sunroof so i can trace it?
