i recently purchased instructions on how to convert a childs powerwheels jeep riding toy battery setup to a motorcycle or garden tractor battery setup. it is suppose to hold a charge longer and not lose power when riding up small hills.

my question is this.  the instructions call for 2 spdt 12v 20a relays which i ordered through allelectronics.com (relay 421).  on the relay there are 5 tines ( 3 skinny and 2 fat ) they are numbered 1 - 5.  i need to know which ones are NC, NO, C and the other two are suppose to activate the relay.

the instructions that i was sent shows a relay with 5 tines but in a different arrangement and do not show any size difference or i would just wire up according to the diagram.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks, dan

The standard automotive relay is numbered on the bottom of the housing.

The following numbers indicate the coil, common, and the NO & NC position.

85 = coil (+ VDC or GND)

86 = coil (+ VDC or GND)

87 = Normally Open

87a= Normally Closed

30 = Common
