I will use window motor to move my amp rack...but I would like to know how to wire it.  I think I need 2 relays and 2 limit switches....any schematics?

Is there any other way to wire it up with a window module?

I fogot to add that I would like the rack to slide out when the trunk  opens and then when the trunk is closed the rack slides back.  The trunk has a switch that grounds in order to turn on the trunk light....so I was thinking to use this switch to control the amp rack.

There actually is a good article on basic motorization that would probably help you out in the september issue of CA&E. When I can find a link to the article then I will post it.

I saw your question and I was intrigued...and I think I have figured it out.  The way I figure, you would have to use three relays...one that runs off the trunk switch and two for polarity reversal.  You'll see what I mean in the diagram...

All you would have to do is figure out where to phisically put the limit switches so that the motor stops moving your rack setup.  Hope this helps.

Is there a place to buy adjustable actuators or is using window motors usually the norm?

IT WORKED...THANKS ROPES.

It works like a charm. But now I have a problem...the motor spins too fast and I need to slow it down.  How do I do this...with a resistor?

i just finished doing some motorization yesterday  ..used 2 pulse timers 2 relays and a reed switch ...lifting the hatch on a 88 civic hb turned out pretty good

Fishman Car Audio sell good Linear Actuators that I have used on numerous occasions....They are smooth actuating and are REAL Strong...

I am sure that most any Linear Actuator would be just as good..I have just been dealing With Fishman Custom Car audio accesories and like their business....They have all kinda stuff for doing custom installs....

Here is what I came up with using the Above Circuit as a referance.

Hey scorponox,

Yeah...a resistor may do the trick for your motor, experiment with it.  Try various resistors also might want to try some potentiometers.  Any decent electronics store should have a supply of either of those.

Post a pic or two....let us see what it looks like.

A Resistor or potentiometer would fry because of the current.

Now a Light Dimmer from the Junk yard may do it or a Wiper speed control.

I will see what I can come up with.

Put a coil in series with the motor on the ground side in order to slow it down...

What do you mean by "coil"?
