when places show how to wire up a relay to do a certain thing, and they say 87A - not in use, does this mean i can get away with using a spst? or do i still have to use a spdt, just not use the 87A pin? thanks

If you are only using 2 coil wires and 2 other wires being controlled, there is no reason to use a SPDT, a SPST will work just fine. Just be sure that you have the amperage rating and wire away!

I think there is a little confusion going on here. 87a is used on a SPDT Relay ASPST Relay only has 1 Pole or Switch.posted_image
