I know I need a relay on the parking lights for my remote start. I believe it is an 8617 relay by DEI. Can someone explain to me which wires go where from the relay? Thanks ------------- Wildkind Concepts

Why do you need this for the remote start ? The Ford uses a (+) input which 99.9% of the units available on the market can output. Use the BROWN wire at the switch for the parking lights and no relay is required.

Are you sure because I thought if you had a negative parking light system, then no relay was required. My last truck needed it (2000 Dodge Dakota) My wifes car didnt need one(1999 Grand Am). I thought if it was positive, you needed a relay and if it was negative you didnt. ------------- Wildkind Concepts

I've done enough of these vehicles, but test to be sure. Find the BROWN wire at the switch and see what it meters at when you turn on the lights. If it's a (+) then no need for the relay.

I found the brown wire at the switch and ran the white wire from the remote start module and still no parking light flash. Any clue? I used this same remote start on my Dodge Dakota then took it out when I traded it. I needed a relay on that one, but don't remember how I hooked it up.

Have you tested the WHITE wire to ensure that your getting 12 volts out of this wire and also, did you meter the BROWN wire to see if this has 12 volts when you turn on your parking lights ?

Yes I tested the brown wire and its getting 12v but the white wire is reading -.17v
