I want to add a relay for the amps and one relay for the fans. what kind of a relay do i need to get to power on the amps and then what kind of a relay do i need to power the fans. The two amps equal 250 amp and i am not sure about the fans but the fans are not the computer looking fans it is the Crossflow Cooling Fan . The auction number on ebay to look at the picture of the fan is 5719429447
Thanks for looking and helping out.

You will only require a standard SPDT 30 amp relay. Remember, the remote turn on lead from the HU is what turns your amplifier on, and does not carry alot of current.

On the left side of this forum you will see a illustration as to how to add in more accessories with the turn on lead, such as your fan.

So, a standard spdt 30 amp relay for the amps and fans or just amps.

So to clairify  he will use the relay to control the turn on circuit of the amps and the fans not the bulk of the 250 amps?

That would be 250 watts, not 250 amperes. Otherwise that would be impossible.

I dont care what it says there, he does not have an amplifier that draws down 250 ampere's.

Show me one that is sold in the open market that does, even half that current draw.

People, the fuses in both of the amp equal 250 amp or what ever. I only put down the fuse rating because I thought it matters in which relay to use. Sorry for the confusion.

The fuse rating on these are are rated at a safe amperage where the fuse will burn out to protect the circuits of the amplifier. If each amplifier is rated at with a 125 amp fuse ( just for comparison ), then the total amperage required to blow the fuse is 125 amps but chances are the amp can take more than that, but the manufacturer's being on the safe side.

Back to the original question, the remote turn on lead is what will turn on the amplifier and the fans from the HU. Most HU's can handle 2 devices from the one remote turn on lead without problems. If more devices are added, then a relay ( SPDT 30/40 amp ) is recommended to be installed regardless of wattage or amperage of the amp, fan or HU.

Hope this clarifies some things here and please remember that we're all here to help one another. Getting all excited about relays and wires is not necessary and IMO, very juvenile. Lets keep this forum as professional  as possible, thanks.

Hey John, I think what Teken was trying to point out was the fact that the output of amplifier's are rated in watts and the consumption is rated in amps. With the original posting, the question was about the fans and the amplifier turn on in relation to the HU. In which case the MAX ampheres have nothing to do with what is needed to answer his question.
