this is my first time using this forum, i hope someone can help. the radiator fan on my girlfriends 99 grand cherokee stopped working and i've narrowed it down to the relay, but i dont know where it is. i cant even look it up in a haynes manual bc none of the part stores in town have the right one in stock, and all the counter people are clueless. if someone could tell me where it is, or tell me where i could find the info i need i would appreciate it. thanx.

Well i have no idea where it is....but you should be able to get manual off of the net if you live in a small town.  I would suggest that.

Are you sure its the relay?  How did you come to this conclusion?

well the fan wont come on at all when the car is running, even with the ac on. so i ran power straight to the fan and it ccame on. then i checked the 40 amp fuse in the cluster under the hood and it was still good. the relay is my next guess and its only 9 bucks so i figured i might as well try that.  do you know where i could download a manual or diagram??

The cooling fan relay is located below bumper fascia at right headlamp. The ground for the relay is at the headlight as well. the relay is controlled by the pcm, so if you had a bad coolant temp sensor, this would cause the pcm to control the fan incorrectly, and possibly trip a check engine light. more than likely you have a bad connection or relay. the wires are as follows...blk - ground...dk green - power to fan...gray - feed from fuse...dk. blue/pink - fan control from pcm...don't try to hotwire dkblue/pink...poss of damaging pcm...this should help you track it down. peace and chicken grease

I tell it like it is...

everything you would want to know and then some can be found at:

www.wjjeeps.com

If that website can't get you the right info talk to the guy that runs it at:

WJJeeps.com

That is his e-mail. shoot him a line. He knows WJ's (99-05) Grand Cherokees like the back of his hand. Hope this helps.
