I tried to build the about starter kill. Problem is that it heats up and latches to 87-30 even with radio off or disconnected. It works fine until it heats up. Also works in my house on 12v from jumpstarter. I do have a diode on the relay that has 12v at 30. Diode is between 86-85. I also have a diode going to radio. I'm wondering if i have created a capacitor between the two diodes. I think the diode at 86-85 is supposed to have positive at 86 and negative at 85.

Sounds Like you are Drawing Too Many Amps for the Relays you are using.
Use the Relays to operate the Solenoid instead of the power.

When in doubt, try it out !
I have not hooked it up to starter yet. I reversed the polarity on the diode that was an integral part of the relay eg 85-86 and it does not heat up anymore. My problem still remained. What was happening was that the relay would stick closed. I had to remove the 12v source at 30 for it to delatch. However, i read a post by administrator that said that it is normal for the relay to remain latched. I should have hooked up 12v ignition wire instead of 12v constant to terminal 30. Now, using 12v from ignition, the relay delatches when i turn off ignition. This actually works out good because now i can turn off radio and still retain the ability to start car if i stall. Thanks for your help.
