I'm looking to install a switch in a vehicle that will give a constant ground when switched on...but will switch off once positive power (+) is applied.  Is there some type of relay arrangement using a momentary switch to accomplish this...or an actual switch that will turn itself off when power is applied to another set of contacts on it?  I've looked at creating a latching relay that when power is applied that will disconnect the ground, but am not wild about the idea of the relay staying on possibly for long periods of time until the switch is reactivated.

Thanks

Mike

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Basically, I'm using this on my own vehicle for a remote starter.  Its a jeep wrangler with a manual transmission.  What I want to accomplish is when I shut the car off and take it out of gear, I activate a switch that disconnects the chassis ground to the remote starter, basically arming the remote starter.  But once the vehicle is started with a key, I wanted the switch to deactivate or turn itself off until it is re-armed.  The chassis ground will hook up in parallel to the hood pin input on the remote starter...if a chassis ground is not present it will start.
