Well my issue is that my '00 acoord takes - voltage for the lock and - for the unlock.

The alarm i just purchased (a pretty cheap "option group") off of ebay does not have the best directions. The wiring diagram it includes has two wires, one saying Positive door lock switch and the other saying Negative door lock switch. Am I correct in my assumption that I should use a relay on the positive switch to convert this to negetive voltage and that one of these wire will act as lock, and the other as unlock?

Also since this will be my first relay, is this the correct relay? and will i have to put a fuse on the + input?

ok, use a multimeter to test this but... some alarms have a - + lock output, it's kinda weird, but when you hit lock, one wire will give a ground pulse, and at the same time the other will give a positive pulse, but when you hit unlock the first one will do the positive, and the second one will give the negitive, , kinda weird, so IF this is the case you can use the regular wires, but i'd diode it just for safety (with the + output on there with out a diode, in the rare case that someone is locking the doors in the car with the switch at the same time you are unlocking them, it could mess something up) and ur relay diagram is right, i would switch 87 and 30 tho,, (not that it would make it act any different, just that if you hook that ground up to 87 instead of 30, then the 87a pin will have no connection, and in that diagram 87a has a connection to ground unless relay is activated, just more places for things to ground out should something fall off (maybe i'm nuts, i just do it that way, tottaly up to you) anyways, sorry about making a small question into a novel here, have a nice day

you could also just hook those wires up to two relays to get rid of that positive pulse in there too, if those wires aren't how i explained them, test them with a multimeter on lock and unlock all of them and show me with something like this
LOCK PULSE
    WIRE 1--
    WIRE 2--
UNLOCK PULSE
    WIRE 1 --
    WIRE 2 --

and i'll tell you what ya need to do,,,

well at the moment i dont have a functioning multimeter, but ill def get one before i attempt this

here is a picture of the wiring diagram (sorry percy, for borrowing this link)

Since my car accepts both - for the lock and - for the unlock, should i just use the blue and green wires and hook those straight up to the lock and unlock wires independtly? Or should i go with the green and purple wires from the left side of the diagram?

ok, i'm finally understanding this crap now.
Took me for ever to realize that "I/P" means input and "O/P" means output....wow

So the Purple and green wires on the left are for triggering the alarm when the door opens, and I can use the green wire neg door switch to hook up to the dome light.

So now I'm left with the green and blue wires which both send - 500mA, is this too much voltage to feed straight the the car unlock and lock wires?

I believe to avoid any relays at all for the door locks i can use CH1,CH2,CH3, or CH4 these include options such as trnk release and such, which I probably wont use. So to lock i can use blue, and to unlock i can use RED / white. Is this a stupid idea? I will check to see the states of the blue and green wires to see if there is a way i can have on send a signal to lock and the other to send a signal to unlock.....if that is not how it is already done.

alright, nevermind, i've read from other posts that 1 wire is used for lock and the other for unlock, so unless someone else has anything to say, i believe i have all the answers to all of my questions now.

The blue wire and the green wires are your outputs and they are negative, they are the wires going to the 2 relays at the bottom right corner of your diagram. The wires you are reffering to are the "negative door switch" green and the "positive door switch" purple. These wires tell the alarm the door is open, they have nothing to do with the door locks.

The 500ma is just what it supplies and is only suitable to use with relays or to tie into the car's relays. So for your honda you are fine to just use the wires straight out of the alarm.
