Hi guys!
This may be a stupid question to some, but I am not sure exactly what it is I need. Basically I need some sort of mechanical 12V switch/relay suitable for a car, that "sticks" when a 12V pulse it passed through it (i.e. the contact is maintained after the solenoid is no longer energised). I believe this is called a flip-flop or a latching relay. I really don't know if such a thing exists, or even what it is properly called. PCB mount-type units are no good to me - I need something like a horn relay or perhaps a series of them, etc.
Just to be clear , what I am using this for is to be able to press a momentary switch once (solenoid energises) with circuit A then becoming active. Then when I press the switch a second time, the power to circuit A is cut and circuit B becomes active. When I press the switch a third time, circuit B is cut and circuit A is again active (same as the first time switch was pressed) and so on and so on...
I hope his makes sense!
TIA.
That would be a Flip Flop Circuit.
The latching Relay doesn't care what the switch does after you push it the first time. It latches and will not unlatch until power is dropped.
