looking for free advice. have 96 civic. one headlight is dull on dim, then on bright the other headlight is dim.

also the interior light is extra dim.        There had been some over heating of electrical connections to headlights. i replaced them along with interior light. no improvement.   I dont even know what a relay is, any tips must be written in laymans language for me to grasp. thanks.

Check the ground on the headlights.
