in my 91 s10 blazer the fuel pump continues to run for up to about 10 seconds after i shut it off. it did this before i replaced the fuel pump cuz it went out. i was just wondering if id be ok using a regular bosch relay instead of spending  $10 at autozone on one cuz i have a bunch sittin around. i take it its possible for a relay to stick on for a few seconds like i think mine is doing? thanks for your replies.

The fuel pumps on all GM products that I know of run for a few seconds after you turn the key off.  It is normal on a fuel injected engine.  One cause of those in the tankl fuel pumps going out is people running around with an almost empty tank.  The fuel pump needs fuel around it for cooling.  Every pump I know of that went bad, when the tank was pulled it was close to empty, coincedence, I think not.
