i believe the way this curcuit work is when the momentary switch is pressed it latches but will not unlatch untill the power is cut off the the curcuit. i cant say for sure i have never got use this set up yet but i do believe if you look on this site for relay confg. you will find something that will work for your application. hope i helped

When you push the button initially relay 1 (far left) should stay energized for as long as you have the button held down. When you let the button go, relay 1 deenergizes.

When you push the button down initially relay 2 (2nd from left) should energize. It should stay energized after you let go of the button

When you push the button initially relay 3 (3rd from left) should stay deenergized. When you let the button go (and relay 1 drops out) relay 3 should energize. This will set your switch up to shut the output off!

Relay 4 (far right) won't do anything until you push the button the 2nd time. It will energize as soon as you push the button. Once it energizes it will take away the 12volts going in to relay 2. That will cause relay 2 to drop out.

i c what you mean but its just that i need it to be a on/off at a push of one momentary button, so it worked for it to turn on but not off, i might rebuild it and c what happens,

i am using diodes would that hav anything to do with it and yes they r in the right way.

any more suggestions.

ok i have just rewired the whole thing again and still the same, latches on but not off, can some one confirm that this circuit assembly latches on and off with the push of the same button.

if it does not can some one modify it by any chance so that i can or am i out of luck,

cheers

millencolin, are you sure you don't have one or more SPST (single pole single throw) relays in your mix? All but the second relay must be SPDT (single pole double throw) relays. All are shown as SPDT relays in that diagram and it should latch on or off with each push of the momentary contact switch.
