I was wondering how hard it would be using relays to make my own remote start? Do i really need a brain to control tach signal or is there a way that i can make a remote start that runs without a brain on simply relays and voltage senseing. I know you can program some of the dei brains to run voltage sense, i wasnt sure if there was a much smaller, much cheaper sensor i could install with a reasonable amount of work? Thanks.....its just an idea.

Just buy the brain. It has built in features like turning off after so long so you don't run out of gas. The relay RS doesn't check for anything, it just powers ign/acc and then you hit a button to crank. Don't be cheap.
