Hi, I'm very new to relays and have a simple question. The relays I have are not labelled 85,86,87,87a,30 but rather have the numbers 1-4 next to the pins, the last pin does not have a number as far as I can see. How can I tell which pins are which?
If it helps, the bottom of the relay looks somthing like this:
4 3 1
? 2
Thanks

sounds like a factory car relay and there should be a diagram on it's side or top. if not they usally are 3 and 5 for the cutoff of the relay and the coil will be 1and 4 or 1and 2. you will need to test it to make sure.

Use a multimeter to help you with the wires. Don't assume anything as this may cause damage to the relay and to your vehicle.

sorry forgot to write the multimeter in the post. thankx velosity motors. that is what i meant by testing it first, never install anything in your car unless your sure of its operation and polarity.
