I want to install a rocker switch to turn off my head unit when I take my truck in for service and valet parking. Where would I put the switch inline with: 12V constant or ignition wire?

Either will work, although if you put it on the constant wire you will have to reset your clock and all your settings each time you flip the switch.

You could also put it inline with the remote wire to only shut your amps off.  Your radio will remain powered, but your amps won't play anything.

doibuy - guess I'll be installing it with the ignition wire. Thanks.

KPierson - I don't want my deck being messed with so turning it off is my only option. But thanks for your reply!

if the face comes off take it off or you can connect the 12v constant and the memory wire together on radio to 12v constant from battery and use power button radio. this also helps when you want to play radio without your key in the ignition

i don't see the point of adding a rocker switch just to prevent them from turning the head system on.  chances are, they are gonna touch it anyways (the head unit) while the car is in service.  just take the face plate off if it has one.

Sorry, forgot to mention it's for an Alpine CDA 7897 with the Phantom face.
