I have got a Linear Actuator that has been fitted to the boot of my car which will lift/lower the boot lid at the press of a spring loaded button.  What I would like to do is use my two spare  -pulse aux channels on my car alarm to activate the linear actuator to open at the press of one button and then close at the press of the other.  Will I have to use a timed relay to cut off power once the actuator reaches its limit switch so that when the other button is pressed the power will have cut out and nothing shorts out.

If this sounds right could someone please help with a wiring diagram to achieve this outcome.

Thanks

You need something like the TR-7 from www.pac-audio.com.
This has the abillity to do what you describe using only one channel from your alarm.

Thanks for your help, but my car was put in to a car audio/electronics place and when I picked the car up I was told what they have used to control the actuator!

They used a PAC TR-7, very smart peice of equipment.

Cheers
