Hi,
My car is a UK mazda 323 2001+, same as the protege5 in the US.
There were no fogs or driving lights standard so bought some Ring driving lights.
I'm not sure on the US laws, but in the UK they can only come on with the high beams or when flashing the high beams, they must be off when using dipped or sidelights or off.
So far, i can get them to come on with the high beams, turn off with the dipped, but they come on again with sidelights.
i'm using 1 relay wired like this:
85 - Earth/ Ground
30 - battery positive with inline fuse
87 - to + on driving lights
86 - to switch - from switch to high beam power (at back of headlamp)
How can i stop them coming on with the sidelights?
Thanks
I use a 2 relay system, which operates both my fogs and driving lamps, and uses 1 switch and 2 relays.
switch:
source= parking lamp positive
output= control for relay 1
relay-1:
30: source = battery +12VDC
85: control = switch output
86: ground
87: output to relay-2 source
relay-2:
30: source = relay-1 output (87)
85: control = hi-beam positive
86: ground
87: driving lamps
87a: fog lamps
On your vehicle, the wiring may vary- I do not know if your vehicle has positive switched or negative switched lighing.
Thanks, i will give that a try. I have just been down to the salvage yard and picked up a few relays.
I'v been searching for info on the wiring, some places are saying it's a positive trigger, some are saying negative trigger. But nothing definative, is there a way i can check myself? would it involve a volt meter from the high beam wire to the neg on the battery? so if it was showing 12v with the high beams off it would be neg trigger? or positive?
Thanks
