ive got a 1990 1800cc vw golf clipper cabriolet the engine went bang so got a new one but it looked differant on phoning the guy i got the new moter off told me it was out of a 1994 golf driver but it would defo fit, after changing afew parts the moter is in and sparking but on fuel as the 1990 moter had a maual pump on the head the newer moter has the pump in the tank the tanks wont swap there diferant tryed a pump from a gti 8v that wont fit, and the tank wont fit so my mate has said to use a 12v vauxhall pump hes put the pump under the bonnet with the fillter and ive got the relay and wires the from the 8 v, witch are RED / yellow,  PURPLE / black, and brown, and the relay is 4 pronged numbered 30, 85, 86, 87, these do not match my loom so can anybody tell me how to wire the relay to prime the pump and where im to put the wires. basicly i need to know what numbers on the relay go where, Please sombody help?  Thanks. My suggestion is to find out what the wires go to then figure out the relay.

Look up a diagram for both cars then modify as needed.

The relay pins are

30 Common Contact

85 Coil

86 Coil

87 Norm Open Contact

30 Put power to be switched on this terminal

87 Fuel Pump Hot lead goes here

85 and 86 control the relay closing.

one will go to ground or - and the other to a switched 12v +
