Subject: power mirror relay setup ?

i have a set of power mirrors that are going in a non power application. i have gone through just about every relay config. i can think of myself and can't get them to work both ways. three wires coming from the mirror. ground, updown, and left right. basically i need a relay setup that will switch polarity of the ground and updown, and also ground and left right. any help would be appreciated.

configuring relays to do this should be easy. However what are you using for the control? you need a 4 position "joystick" type switch.

Post some info on the switch you are using and I will post a wiring diagram.

i'm going to use a factory gm switch out of a 01 s10 most likely , but regardless, i'm not worried about the switch, they are all pretty similar. any sort of diagram would help

Sorry had to do stuff. This should work if you have a switch with 4 wires that can send a ground.

Each set of relays will reverse polarity to the wires. One set of relays to the up/down wires..one set of relays to the left/right wires. The mirror uses 3 wires so one will be a common as you will see on the diagram.   power_mirrors.jpg

Also note..if any of the switch functions work backwards of what you want just switch the 30's on the relays and it will reverse the operation,

Hope this helps.

nevermind..don't use that circuit I posted. It "rests" at ground and will blow the fuse once you touch the switch. I will need to do another circuit that rests open or isolate somehow.

Be back soon.

ok this will work but you need 8 total relays. It is safe. there may be other ways as well, this is off the cuff so to speak.

The first circuit I posted was actually a "rest at +" but regardless it wouldn't work in this situation. Same thing, it will blow a fuse once the switch is touched. If you decide to go with the second diagram, as I can't see why it wouldn't work, post back the results.

Thanks
