i recently purchesed the alpine sc100 alarm system, im pleased with its features and the overall quality, but im not very clear n the instuctions they gave, for eveything is pretty basic the one thing im stuck on is the starter kill relay... the install manual lists the relay to be installed as the following :
Yellow - ignition BLACK/ orange - pre wired to alarm Yellow(2) - Pre wired to alarm RED / White - N.O. Conection (87) RED / Yellow - N.C. Conection (87a) Red - Key
can someone make sense of this for me please... where on the car do i connect the RED / White and RED / Yellow wires??? also it says Red- Key ? ? is that acc, or starter wire off ingnition, or is the just switched ignition? please help, iv installed alarms before, but its been a while.

The Alpine alarm you have has a great feature. You can either wire it so that if the relay fails to activate, you can still start your car, or if the relay fails to activate you can't start your car. The good news for the first option, is if the relay fails to activate you can start your car. The bad news on the first one is that if a theif disables the alarm in any way, he can start your car also. Relays can fail, but it just doesn't happen that often, so for the best protection I would go with option number two. Especially since you are installing it you'll know where you hid the relay to replace\bypass it in an emergency. To do this you will need to change the feature in the programming mode. It isn't very easy because as I remember Alpine gives you microscopic writing to all of their complex programming on a very small page. Change it to the N.O. connection. Then, wire the red wire to the key side of the starter wire you should have tested and cut. This is the side going to the ignition switch. The red\ white wire should then be wired to the other side of the starter wire. YOU WILL NOT USE the red\yellow wire so cut it off or prevent it from shorting out. The yellow ignition wire goes from 12 volts only when the ignition is on to the relay, and from there Alpine has pre-wired it o the alarm. Good Luck!
