Hey (my first post on this board)
So heres my question. I just got an alarm and i am installing it myself and i am going to put in 'starter disable' on the (- when armed output) but i dont have a diode laying around i got lots of relays but no diode so i found this diagram on the net and i just want to know if it would actually work??
Pin 86 (- output from alarm)
Pin 30 (to starter)
Pin 85 (to key)
Pin 87 (to key)
Pin 87a (not used)
Thanks in advance i just dont wanna mess anything up!
Ok ignition wires are all hanging there one problem on the relay diagram it says to 12v ignition is this the ignition wire that after you start the car the key falls back on or is this a constant 12v ignition wire,
Thanks
jeff
Ignition wire will show 12V+ only when the key is in the run and start positions.
okay thanks.
and i just tap into this wire i take it. One more thing is the ignition wires are alot thicker then the relay wires i am installing does this matter? it is a 30 amp relay but im just making sure i dont want it to burn up in there.
Thanks again
You're welcome. Yes, just tap into the ignition wire. Chances are you will be okay using the wires in the prewired socket, but if the starter lead you are cutting and connecting to the relay is larger than the wires on the prewired relay socket, I'd suggest running your own wires to the relay instead of using the prewired socket. If you're only referring to the ignition lead in the prewired socket being smaller than the ignition lead in the vehicle, you'll be fine using the prewired socket.
