12v tracker to control a 24v relay

I have a Tracking system that supplies a 500mA neg output in order to control relays etc.. I am looking to install this into a 24 volt system, given that the tracker is only 12V capable, but to say that is all sorted because of a 24 to 12V reducer.

This has not been tested yet but I can see there possibly being a problem with the 500mA Neg output from a 12V tracker as this will need to control a 24V 70A relay for a basic starter interupt requiring a Negative to switch.

Or would you simply think there would be no problem?

How many Amps does the Tracker Draw?

If this is in a Truck you can just hook the tracker into one of the 12v batteries as a power source.

Then use a 12v 70 amp relay to control the 24v from the Main power supply.

As long as you are using commong grounds between the tracker and the 24vdc power supply there shouldn't be an issue, as 'ground' will be the same voltage reference for both power levels (12 and 24vdc).

The one thing you will need to keep in mind is that when the tracker is not output a ground signal the (-) side of the coil will have 24vdc on it, which may effect the output on the tracker.  It shouldn't, but it could.  If this is an issue you will need an interposing relay for isolation.
